Record a story.
Pin the words.
Shadow it.
KaiTale is an iPhone and iPad app by Kaifuz Studio for language learners, built on in-person language exchange. A friend tells you a story in their language. You record it, pin the words you don't know, and practise it at home, sentence by sentence.

How it works
From a conversation with a friend to practice at home.
-
Record
Record a story hands-free while a friend tells it in their language. You can also import an audio file, or send one from a computer on the same Wi-Fi.
-
Pin
Scrub back sentence by sentence and pin unfamiliar words to the exact moment in the audio.
-
Shadow
At home, listen and repeat sentence by sentence: pause to repeat, loop, and change the speed in steps. Hide words to test yourself, record your own summary, and prepare topics to ask about next time.
Also in KaiTale
Everything on this list runs on your device.
-
Flashcards with the real audio
Review your pinned words as flashcards. Each card plays the real audio of that word.
-
Stored on your device
Stories are stored on the device, and the app works offline. You can export a story as a file and import it again.
-
Seven interface languages
English, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Spanish and French.
-
Drawn by hand
The whole app has a hand-drawn notebook look.
KaiTale cloud is optional
KaiTale cloud writes out each sentence with speech recognition, and suggests words you may not know and topics to ask about. You tick what to keep.
-
Free plan
Up to 10 stories a month, with one short rewarded ad before each use.
-
KaiTale Pro
An auto-renewing subscription, monthly or yearly. No ads and no monthly limit.
Everything that runs on your device is free.
